Update - April 24, 2025

Hey Folks,

The 2025 is almost here!  The final "i' are being dotted and the "t"s are being crossed for the big weekend, just 2.5 weeks out.  Below is some Wild. Tough. Fun. important information as you head into your final weeks of planning for race day and your weekend to West Virginia.

RACE BRIEFING.  This is way important for your success.  Please CLICK HERE to find the your pre-race briefing and details on the weekends information.  It can also be found on the WV Trail Fest website by clicking HERE

LODGING.   Gotta have a great place to lay your head for the night.  If you staying at Allegheny Springs or another Snowshoe property and you booked through the resort using our discount code,  BE SURE to check in at the Snowshoe Inn (10 Snowshoe Dr, Slaty Fork, WV 26291) which is at the bottom of the mountain.  If you have not booked yet, call 1.877.441.4386 to reserve your room.  Reference you are part of the WV Trail Fest using group code 5210KE.  This is for our discounted room block.  Please note the room block will be opened tomorrow, the discount will still apply but rooms will be open to the public. Don't wait, reserve a room now! Most rooms are at Alleghany Springs, which is central to the finish.  Booking with our block, and not with a third party, will afford you all the amenities that Snowshoe has to offer.  If you happen to book after the group code expires, be sure to say you are with the WV Trail Fest to ensure our discounted rates.
Please note that booking with a 3rd party agency will likely result in  limited use of Snowshoe amenities.

MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCH.  Reservations are required.  Perfect to keep the belly full after a great day on the trails.  Please complete this form and submit payment through Venmo to @WVTrailFest to reserve your spot.   Submit to us NO LATER THAN 25 APR @ 8:00am.  The Mother's Day Brunch will be an open buffet style buffet brunch.  It will be located at the Junction Ale House restaurant in the Village at Snowshoe.  Mother's Day Brunch is $27 for adults and $13.50 for kids 12 and under.  This includes all local taxes and gratuity.

RACE TIMING.  Everyone loves to know their exact time on the course.  We are happy to announce that AP Timing will be providing timing services for the Stargazer 30K, Full Moon 60K, and Dark Skies 100K.  Links to the tracking website will be set out once BIB numbers are assigned after registration closes.

GPX FILES.   Always fun to follow the dot on your phone and know where you are.  We have made some minor adjustments to the GPX files for the 30K, 60K, and 100K races.  They are available for downloading from the race website.  We highly recommend downloading these files to your GPS watch or phone to maximize your safety on the trails.  https://wvtrailfest.com/courses

It is hard to believe that the WV Trail Fest is less than 5 weeks away. In reaching out to everyone, we wanted to bring a couple of items to your attention as we close in on race weekend.

INFO SESSION.  We will schedule a meet the RDs/race info session on IG in the near future. This will provide an opportunity to meet the RDs and ask questions about the course or other details about Trail Fest. Stay tuned to our IG for more info.

Update - May 7, 2024

Hi runners!

The updated 2024 WVTF Runner's Brief is located here. Please take a few minutes to review this information.

Race Start Times:

  • 00.01 (Saturday Morning): Dark Skies 100K @ the entrance to Seneca State park

  • 07.00 Saturday: Full Moon 60K @ CASS

  • 10:30 Saturday: Stargazer 30K @ Snowshoe Village

 IMPORTANT The course markings have been updated (details on page 7 of the brief). 

  • Dark Skies 100K: YELLOW

  • Full Moon 60K: YELLOW to PURPLE to YELLOW

  • Stargazer 30K: BLUE to YELLOW

Don't forget to check in and out at every checkpoint.

Bib numbers have been assigned: Dark Skies 100K, Full Moon 60K, Stargazer 30K. You must let us know by 10PM Friday if you don't plan to run (a DNS will be assigned after this point). 

ONLY A FEW SPOTS LEFT!! Make sure you reserved a spot on the Dark Skies 100K or Full Moon 60K shuttles ($10 as part of registration). A list of those with reservations is posted here for the Dark Skies 100K and here for the Full Moon 60K.  It is your responsibility to get to the start line if you did not reserve a spot. 

The weather forecast is currently predicting temps in the 40s and 50s with a chance of rain. It will feel colder at some points, plan accordingly. 

Finally, SWAG! All participants will receive a race shirt and bumper sticker. Dark Skies 100K and Full Moon 60K runners will have a choice of hat. Hats and stickers will be available for purchase at packet-pickup. 

Update - May 1, 2024

Hi Runners,

Welcome the West Virginia Trail Fest (WVTF).  We are excited to see everyone Friday May 10th and Saturday May 11th in Snowshoe Village for the inaugural WVTF Twilight 5K and Kids Mile.  Below are details about packet pick up and race day. There is also a map at the bottom of the email that shows the location of everything in Snowshoe village.

Packet Pick-up & Check-In

Twilight 5K & Kids Mile:  Friday May 10th from 2:00pm to 10:00pm in the Seneca Room (or outside depending on weather) in the Village.

Kids Mile:  Saturday May 11th from 8:30 am to 9:45 am in the Seneca Room (or outside depending on weather) in the Village. 

Race Day Parking: 

Parking on race day will be across from the Snowshoe Village.

Race Start Times:

Twilight 5K:  Friday May 10th at 6:00pm 

Kids 1 Mile: Saturday May 11th at 10:30am

Water Stop

There will be a water point for the 5K at approximately the halfway point at Shaver's Lake.  There will be no water point for the 1 Mile fun run.

Post Race Party: 

The Twilight 5K will conclude at 8:00pm on MAY 11th.  Following the 5K at 8:30pm there will be a family movie night and the Junction near the finish line (bring a chair!).  There will be a kids movie at 8:30pm followed by a trail running movie.

Local Artisan, Farmers Market, Vendor Expo:

Saturday May 11th from 9.00 am – 9.00pm in Snowshoe Village. 

Awards:

All finishers will receive a medal and awards will be given to the top 3 overall men and women of the 5K.

1 Mile Kids Run participants will receive a finishers medal.

Update - April 13, 2024

Good Afternoon from WV Trail Fest HQ!

Less than a month to race weekend May 10-12. It’s going to be an epic inaugural year with race distances to suite any runner, a family movie night, local artisan and farmers market, vendor expo, kid activities, a post-race party and band and a Mother’s Day brunch. You don’t want to miss it!!

Don’t worry, there is still time to register to run or volunteer.

All participants will be receiving a spectacular WVTF bumper sticker!

We’ll be announcing some amazing swag and finisher awards over the next few weeks. Follow us on IG and Facebook for more details!

Greetings from WV Trail Fest HQ!

Time is ticking down to snag a bib for the 2024 WV Trail Fest
(May 10-12) at reduced early bird pricing. Beat the March 31st increase by signing up now (right now!) on UltraSignup.

  • Dark Skies 100K: $175

  • Full Moon 60K: $115

  • Stargazer 30K: $80

  • Twilight 5K: $35

  • Kids Mile: $15

Prices will increase to $195, $130, $95, $50, $25 respectively on March 31st.

The full event schedule is here. A family movie night is scheduled for 20.00 Friday and we are finalizing details for a band to play at the finish line at 18.30 Saturday. The schedule will be updated as more information is available.
